WHO WE ARE

Our mission is to ensure that every child is a safe and confident swimmer. With decades of experience teaching swim to all ages, we know what works and what doesn’t. Our curriculum has been specifically tailored to provide results while ensuring that students enjoy their classes and love swim. We instruct with a gentle yet assertive approach that helps swimmers build confidence and competence in the water. All of our instructors are Red Cross CPR and Lifeguard certified.

Josie Howdyshell

Owner

Josie Howdyshell, owner and operator of Center Lane Swim School, with an educational background in aquatic safety, instruction, and management as well as 18 years of hands-on swim instruction experience, has brought to life her dream of running her own swim facility and making swim instruction accessible and fun in her local community.

Starting her journey as a swim instructor at a young age, Josie has since taught thousands of individuals to swim. Prior to opening Center Lane Swim School, Josie also worked for a multinational swim school franchise, where she served as General Manager to multiple locations, overseeing daily operations, and she played a crucial role in opening two new out-of-state facilities. Josie’s exceptional leadership and expertise also contributed to turning around a struggling location, where she led the hiring and training efforts that revitalized the business.

Josie’s true passion comes in helping fearful and water-traumatized children overcome their anxieties and learn to swim—an area where her unique ability to connect with and inspire children sets her apart. She is dedicated to providing a safe, supportive environment where every child can gain the skills and confidence they need to enjoy the water.
